Emergency Department
About the department
The Emergency Department is one of the structural divisions of the Hospital which is designed to provide 24/7 emergency medical care to a separate category of citizens attached to the Medical Center of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and patients on a contract basis in case of conditions which are life/health-threatening to the patient, accidents, acute serious diseases, both at the scene of the accident and en route. The Department has dispatcher service and field medical teams of emergency medical services. The Department is located in a detached hospital building, block G, Floor 1.
Ambulance vehicles (reanimobile) of emergency medical teams are equipped with modern medical portable equipment (defibrillator monitor, cardiograph, artificial ventilation device) and medical equipment (immobilization equipment, birth and trauma kit, stowage for resuscitation, etc.).
Services of the Department
1. Servicing of emergency pre-hospital calls received by the emergency department of the hospital.
2. Transportation of patients (suffered) in need of emergency and urgent care with a threat to life and health to urgent specialized hospitals and others.
3. Medical support of official and public events held on a citywide scale.
Indications:
- acute life-threatening diseases and conditions, as well as to prevent significant harm to health at the scene of the accident and (or) en route to a medical organization.
The ambulance does not come:
- for conditions that do not threaten life and health and if it is possible to apply independently to primary health care organizations (polyclinic).
- to fulfill scheduled appointments of the district doctor and other specialists (injections of medicines, dressings, enema).
- and does not perform scheduled diagnostic tests (laboratory tests: PCR for Covid-19, swabs for pathologic flora, ECG recording, blood sugar determination).
- for transportation for routine examination and hospitalization in hospitals and other institutions of the city.
- and does not write prescriptions for medicines, does not issue certificates of temporary incapacity for work, does not conduct examination of the fact of death and issue a death certificate, as well as examination for alcohol and drug intoxication.
- the ambulance brigade does not go to suburban nearby settlements (outside Astana) related to the district centers of Akmola region. In rural settlements, specialists and ambulance vehicles of the nearest medical organizations are engaged by the dispatcher of the regional primary healthcare sub-station to service the emergency calls.
