A workshop for bacteriologists on antimicrobial resistance control was held at the Medical Center Hospital

A workshop titled “Modern approaches to the control and containment of antimicrobial resistance” was held at the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory of the Medical Center Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan for bacteriologists from various regions of Kazakhstan.
The training has been conducted on a regular basis since 2024. During this period, specialists from Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Turkestan Region, as well as several medical organizations in Almaty, have completed the program.
The five-day course included both lectures and practical sessions. Participants studied the concept of antimicrobial resistance, methods for determining microbial susceptibility to antibiotics, including the manual disk diffusion method, as well as work on modern bacteriological analyzers in accordance with EUCAST international standards.
As part of the workshop, specialists were also introduced to the experience of implementing EUCAST standards at the Medical Center Hospital, the operation of modern laboratory equipment, including mass spectrometry, and issues of microbiological monitoring within the infection control system.
The aim of the training is to prepare specialists and promote EUCAST standards in order to implement unified approaches to determining microbial susceptibility to antibiotics in healthcare organizations across Kazakhstan.
